Company Prospectus

We are honored to present the Company Prospectus of CPE Consulting Engineers, to which we also attach a short summary with somewhat more details regarding ELECTRICAL CONSULTING ENGINEERING services and ALTERNATIVE ENERGY Systems CPE can offer.

1) BRIEF BACKGROUND

SAAR FERREIRA Consulting Engineers cc was founded during 1987 by Greg Saar and Maans Ferreira, and was based in Kempton Park since founding.

During January 2000 the Company was separated into 2 individual offices, Saar Ferreira Consulting Engineers cc in Pretoria managed by Greg Saar, and Kempton Park offices practicing under Consolidated Power Engineering cc managed by Maans Ferreira, t/a CPE Consulting Engineers.

Our main objective is to provide a professional and client orientated service on all projects regardless the size of the project. In order to ensure best possible quality of design, speed and accuracy of work, the Company utilizes advanced computer assisted design programs for amongst others, the following functions:
  • sketch plan cost and load estimates.
  • reticulation and protection design.
  • draughting of diagrams and construction drawings.
  • lighting levels and uniformity design.
  • energy and building management systems.
  • contract administration.
  • data based statistics on completed projects.

During the Engineering careers of the engineers, they were directly involved and responsible for various Industrial, Commercial and Utility Projects, including office blocks, shopping centers, hotels, factories, site reticulation, housing schemes, banks, schools and hospitals, and have extensive experience with definite previous involvement in each aspect mentioned above, and in the following paragraphs depicting work undertaken.

3) SCOPE OF WORK UNDERTAKEN

The firm undertakes the early planning, design, preparation of specifications and tender documents, as well as contract administration and co-ordination for Electrical Engineering.

3.2) BUILDING AUTOMATION AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT
  • Using KNX standard equipment for full building automation design, with programming and commissioning done in house by CPE IT Systems Engineers.
  • Scope of BMS systems can be designed to the Client’s requirements, ranging from a basic system to an fully automated system with 10 000 available control functions.
  • AC controls can be integrated into one building management system.
  • IT / Data system design and programming by in house IT Engineers to Clients requirements.
  • Turn key projects undertaken on Electrical reticulation, Solar and IT & Security installations.
3.3) RENEWABLE ENERGY INSTALLATIONS
  • In house engineers trained on design and evaluation of proposed PV, solar and heat pump systems.
  • Integrated systems are provided with KNX automation, controlling PV panels, heat pumps, solar panels, generator and UPS in a fully energy managed system for offices.
  • All available renewable energy generation, latest energy saving technologies and equipment are utilized in our electrical design for Residential and Commercial projects, as a standard design.
  • Own testing, recording and data logging instrumentation are used to measure consumption, verify savings, and find systems faults, and to do Power Condition Analysing reports and equipment Temperature Scanning.
3.4) DRAWING OFFICE
  • 3.4.1) Comprehensive and Professional drawing office with specialist staff capable of preparing the following design tender and construction drawings, and provisional designs:-
    • Electrical MV/LV reticulation construction drawings.
    • Mechanical AC installation drawings.
    • Civil water, sewer & roads design and construction drawings.
    • Substations and switching station construction drawings.
    • Architectural drawings with 3D rendering, and REVIT coordination.
    • Processing of GIS drawings.
    • Autodesk BIM 360° software.
  • 3.4.2) Energy modelling for testing energy consumption of buildings in terms of SANS specifications and/or Green Star rating modelling and reports.
  • 3.4.3) Drone/aerial photography used to confirm work progress.
3.5) DATA & COMMUNICATIONS
  • IT, Telephone and Fibre distribution and equipment layouts.
  • Public address and staff call systems.
  • Fire detection, alarm and security systems.

4) PROJECTS

Consolidated Power Engineering registers approx. 120 to 160 Consulting projects per year, since 1989, including feasibility studies, estimates on risk, planning for tender and design for construction. Only some completed and / or current projects are listed below, per type of project for your information.

A full comprehensive list of projects can however be provided on request, all with satisfied Clients without exception.(4800 projects till 2020)

Note that this Company also provides electrical designs to various Contractors tendering for specific projects on which no design were provided by the Developer, which prove the trust of Contractors in the costing and efficiency of our designs.

6) PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE

Professional indemnity insurance for the Company is provided by GLPA on behalf of Lloyd’s of London.

7) PROFESSIONAL FEES

The Company is bound to prescribed fees as published in the Government Gazette and by the Association of Consulting Engineers.

The fees and extent of services rendered can however be structured to suit the project/client's needs, and cash flow.

8) CODE OF PRACTICE

The code of ethics for professional services as enforced by ECSA is adhered to by this Company at all times.
